Georgetown, Kentucky plant receives SHARP certification
Oconomowoc, Wis. – April 8, 2016 -- ORBIS Corporation, an international manufacturer of sustainable reusable packaging for the supply chain, was recognized today by the Kentucky Labor Cabinet, as part of its Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP).

SHARP was created by the United States Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to increase awareness and recognize superior performance in the area of workplace safety. Locally, the Kentucky Labor Cabinet helps employers comply with Kentucky Occupational Safety and Health standards, as well as qualify them to apply for SHARP. This program is intended to ensure the highest levels of workplace safety and health.



To be eligible for SHARP, companies collaborate with Kentucky safety and health consultants for on-site visits, employee interviews and facility evaluations. ORBIS’ Georgetown, Kentucky plant was named SHARP certified today during a ceremony held at the plant. ORBIS has eleven manufacturing plants throughout North America.  Specifically, its Georgetown, Kentucky plant:

 
  • Employs nearly 150 people in the areas of production, quality and shipping
  • Features more than 149,000 square feet of manufacturing space
  • Offers significant employee development opportunities, from technical skill development to leadership development
 
This plant manufactures plastic pallets and ORBIS’ BulkPak® brand of bulk containers for the automotive, food and beverage industries. Large bulk containers are widely used in automotive industry to store and ship automotive parts and components from supplier to OEMs for vehicle assembly.  According to Jim McCurn, regional director of manufacturing for ORBIS, “Our goal at the Georgetown plant is to manufacture the best looking and best performing containers for our customers, while providing a safe and healthy workplace for our people.”
