Packaging Application: Mittler Supply shipping of welding supplies to retail stores and customers

Packaging Challenge: Mittler Supply loaded products onto wooden pallets and then placed them on flatbed route trucks. To protect shipment from weather elements, the pallets were stretch wrapped and a tarp was placed over the flatbed. Since multiple orders were often on one pallet, it was necessary to continually remove the stretch film, pick the products to be delivered and then try to recover the product. If a tarp was not used, the product was in clear view and susceptible to theft.

Packaging Solution: ORBIS worked with Mittler to recommend resuable bulk containers. When used with a lid, these containers, with the quick release side panel, protect products from weather elements and theft during shipments. Items can be handpicked from the individual containers either using the side drop doors or, if the item is too large, the quick release side panel can be entirely removed. This allows easier and more efficient access to product during deliveries.

Product: 32" x  30" x  34" bulk containers

Results: Mittler Supply discovered that the containers are a more convenient, safe and efficient method of getting shipments to retail stores and ultimately to the customer. Reduced theft and reduced product damage resulted in cost savings.
