LogiMAT: ORBIS Europe Showcases Sustainable Plastic Transport Packaging

ORBIS Supports Companies on their Circular Economy Journey

Hürth/Cologne, February 6th, 2023 –
ORBIS Europe, based near Cologne, Germany, exhibits its sustainable and durable plastic packaging solutions for various industries at LogiMAT 2023 (April 25th-27th in Stuttgart, hall 4, booth 4G64). That includes Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMGC), Food & Beverage, Industrial Manufacturing, Automotive and Dangerous Goods. “Our reusable packaging is in line with the circular economy concept”, says Jürgen Krahé, Senior Commercial Director EMEA at ORBIS Europe. “With our products, companies lower emissions and avoid waste.” ORBIS’ transport packaging is reusable for multiple years and recyclable at end of life.

Clean Transport Packaging Solutions for FMCG
As a solution to transport aluminium cans, glass or plastic bottles and other rigid packaging, ORBIS showcases plastic pallets for the food and beverage industry. When compared to wood pallets, they offer superior protection from contamination and damage caused by moisture, nails or splinters. Due to a reusable, durable design, companies profit from economic savings on a cost-per-trip basis. At the same time, the high dimensional consistency of plastic packaging leads to increased efficiency in automation.

Plastic pallets allow for a clean and secure transportation of beverage cans.

The reusable packaging solution PlastiCorr® replaces one-way corrugated boxes 1 to 1 in automated packaging lines. Its lifetime is 70 times longer compared to one-way packaging, making FMCG supply chains more sustainable. The patented plastic design stays within spec after multiple uses for repeatable performance. PlastiCorr® offers a significant overall reduction of the environmental impact by decreasing energy and water consumption and reducing solid waste.

PlastiCorr® is a reusable 1 to 1 replacement for corrugated one-way boxes in automated packaging lines.

Robust FLCs for Industrial Applications
Transporting heavy loads safely is crucial in manufacturing and automotive industries. The foldable large containers (FLCs) GitterPak® and XXLPak hold up to 900 kg and protect parts with a durable, robust design. When collapsed, a truckload holds up to 272 GitterPaks, leading to less trucks on the streets and therefore reduced CO2 emissions. The FLCs are stackable up to six bins high – in loaded stage – for increased space efficiencies in the warehouse. By customising height and door configurations, companies can also adapt the foldable large containers to existing supply chains.

Secure Transportation of Li-Ion Batteries and Other Dangerous Goods
For dangerous goods transportation, ORBIS presents its UN-certified (UN4H2 / UN50H) IonPak® that is suitable for lithium-ion batteries and other solid dangerous goods (packaging group II). Depending on the design, the maximum gross weight of up to 477-915 kg is in accordance with RID/ADR. The custom protective dunnage allows for increased product protection. “With the IonPak®, companies fulfill the high requirements related to transport safety and environmental protection in dangerous goods transportation”, says Christian Hemming, Technical Director EMEA.

The UN-certified IonPak® was developed for lithium-ion battery transportation.

ORBIS Europe represents the ORBIS Corporation, headquartered in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin (USA), and is part of Menasha Corporation, a family-owned manufacturing company founded in the US in 1849. ORBIS manufactures innovative and durable packaging solutions for sustainable supply chains.
